Labrys is designed to share uncensored art and writing produced by Smith College students in the last calendar year with the greater community. Smith undergraduates are welcome to submit work to the magazine. Current students may also join the staff in a number of capacities.

Smith students interested in joining Labrys can find the staff application form on the join page. All Labrys staff members promote the magazine and blog on campus and publicize submission deadlines. In addition, staff members join specific sub-committees devoted to submission review, proofreading and copyediting, layout, or business-related functions.
Labrys was founded in 2001 by Tammis Day, Margot Atwell, and Rose Ellen Epstein.
