Kashan is well known for its ornate art including tiles, silks, fabrics, vessels, carpets, and architecture. However, Kashan ceramic lusterware pieces are particularly renowned.<\/p>\n<p>The pieces displayed can be dated back to\u00a0the 12th-14th century CE and demonstrate a wide variety of artistic techniques. In addition to the ornate calligraphic script, these objects showcase images of people, animals and mystical beasts that capture the viewer&#8217;s imagination, transporting them to a time long ago in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Madison Agresti, Smith College &#8217;19<\/p>\n<p><em>[Image Accessibility: Detailed image descriptions written as objectively as possible have been included for each ceramic object.
