The dancers seen here move with grace and fluidity. Their movement is dynamic, yet also subtle. Dichotomies such as this speak to the often complex dualities that make up what it means to be Black. Often, when confronted with their blackness, people are subject to being labeled or stereotyped. The dance positions stereotypes and labels in a way that has a fragmented subject, and breaks down the idea that being Black is one definite state of being. The dance, therefore, can be considered by many to be postmodernist.
