Through creation, community, and the facilitation of conversations, we stand as a platform on which we can communicate that we dey, we are here, and we are not going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cbut no one looked\/ at me\/ I had to resuscitate myself\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8216;Poet Nia Mora captures the essence of Dey in the last three lines of her poem titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Salvage<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. She writes of \u201cdrowning\u201d and choking on her own tears, which clutter her throat and submerge her breath, as she flails her \u201cbrown arms\u201d. Mora describes her arms as \u201cthe branches of the tree\/ that scratches your window\/pane\u201d, as though spine-chilling, as though \u201cthey\u201d are frightened by the sticky stench of blood on their hands.
