Reflecting the resilience of their artistic practice, the works in this final exhibition were created before, after, and in some moments, in direct response to the unexpected shift to remote learning and pandemic occurring this Spring. While the seniors usually spend the end of their semester in small exhibition groups curating their final thematic shows, this year, life had other plans. Since March, some artistic projects have continued in new media, some ambitious works still sit unfinished in Smith College studios, and some projects needed to change to feel reflective of our current moment. While this show does not have a coordinated theme, it presents works made in dialogue as students continue to remain connected as studio mates, supporters, critics, collaborators, and friends.
