“Here, Now” <\/em>was the first North American exhibition devoted to the art of Younes Rahmoun, one of Morocco\u2019s leading contemporary artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last 25 years, Rahmoun has found inspiration in a profound connection to his here and now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his work, Rahmoun transforms simple shapes, materials, and gestures from his daily life into sculptures and installations. For Rahmoun, creating art provides a way to be present with himself and with the world around him.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Ghorfa #13<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Younes Rahmoun\u2019s site-specific sculpture at MacLeish, Ghorfa #13<\/em> (Al-Ana\/Huna<\/em>), which was designed and installed in collaboration with the Smith College Art Museum\u2019s Here, Now exhibition, provided a foundation for some of Arts Afield programming during the 2024-2025 academic year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
