PRACTICAL CATS

This image shows a blackout poetry piece created on a page with the header "PRACTICAL CATS". The page is collaged with patterned tape, glitter, and illustrations of the sun and moon. The original text of the page is mostly inked out by dark blue marker, with select words and phrases left uncovered in order to form a new poetic message. The poem is outlined by a triangle-patterned frame.

PRACTICAL CATS

in this way, pass day—
found.
under our eyes

he’s so well preserved

this stoutest of Cats

wears white spats!

There’s a whisper down the line
the Night Mail’s ready
“Skimble where is Skimble?
the train can’t start.”
All the daughters
are searching
Saying “Skimble is very nimble
The Night Mail just can’t go.”

the passengers are frantic to a man—
Then Skimble will appear he’ll saunter to the rear
He’s been busy in the luggage van!
flash
“All Clear!”

You may say that by and large it is Skimble who’s in charge
