THE LIGHTS FADE

This image shows a blackout poetry piece created from a piece entitled "The Rock". The original poem has been painted in a heart-shaped orange frame, and collaged over with floral patterns and images. The orange heart obscures some words, but the original poem is left mostly unchanged. The uncovered, legible words form a poetic message against the art piece.

THE LIGHTS FADE

The lights fade; in the semi-darkness the
heard chanting.

We will build with bricks
There are hands and machines
And clay for brick
And lime for mortar
Where the bricks are
We will build with stone
Where the beams are
We will build with timbers
Where the word is
We will build with speech
There is work
for all
And a job for
Every to his work.
