Beyond the Museum: Art on Smith’s Campus

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Smith College Museum of Art (SCMA) has been brainstorming ways to highlight the many artworks located across Smith’s campus, and to make this work more accessible to all who visit campus. Starting in the fall 2020 semester, students and staff at SCMA and the Spatial Analysis Lab collaborated to create an interactive StoryMap using ArcGIS software. This Collaborations project features work by Hannah Dillahunt ’21, who created the map, and Lexie Casais ’23, who wrote descriptive labels, developed lists of related artworks in SCMA’s collection, and wrote alternative text for screen readers.
