A powerpoint presentation about my thesis, which explores early Christian understandings of the book of Jonah through art and exegesis.
During the first five centuries CE, the prophet Jonah was referenced by over 20 early Christian interpreters and appeared in 57 Roman catacomb frescoes. What made Jonah so popular? And why did artistic portrayals of Jonah disappear after Constantine? My honors thesis in the religion department attempts to answer these questions.
