<\/p>\n
They have no faces, these humans,
\nOnly eyes, small, turned down.
\nNo noses or mouths, just blanks
\nof crinkled blue, or sometimes white.<\/p>\n
They move quickly, on unsteady legs
\nBut slower when they connect themselves
\nto strange cages on wheels,
\nWhere they trap their quarry.<\/p>\n
They fear each other,
\nMother clutching her young away from strangers.
\nThey hold their breath as if
\nthere was poison in the air.<\/p>\n
On the walls, some people put up colored boxes,
\nBut more snatch them down for their cages.
\nIt seems there are never enough,
\nAnd the more they take, the less there are.<\/p>\n
They are like prey-animals, mostly.
\nThey can speak, but choose not to.
\nAnd in their small eyes, unshed tears
