2.5 AGPM Process Log – Lighting

Some themes I’ve been working with are water/ocean, the universe, and the words resurface and revolve. Some metaphors that I’ve been using to explain the movement quality I’ve been trying to evoke are: deep roots growing out of every cell of the foot; when you’re standing with your feet in the ocean right where the waves crash and the feeling of sand slipping out from under your feet like you’re being moved while you’re standing still; the sound and image of glaciers calving. I am interested in the tension build up, perception of time, and investigating how questions about my own identity, responsibility, and interests can become legible through this movement.

I made a storyboard that I screen shotted and included below. In case this is totally illegible, click here for a link to the website. I would like a lot of blues and potentially purples. At the opening I’d like to have a pool of light downstage right with soft edges. If possible I’d love to have a footlight special. I have little experience lighting pieces and feel a little overwhelmed by the number of options that are available, but am really looking forward do hearing Amber’s ideas and collaborating on lighting this project.
