A/N: The process log documenting my rehearsal and creation process has been left unedited in order to provide readers an honest glimpse into the making of my thesis piece Mobius Storm.

Catherine Davis is a double major in mathematics and dance at Smith College graduating in May 2021. She was drawn to athletics and movement from a young age, competing as a gymnast, skater, and springboard diver at different points in her childhood, but her formal dance education began in her first year at Smith. She has been thrilled to study everything from ballet to hip-hop and contact improvisation with incredible instructors like Roger Blum, Onalie Arts, Angie Hauser, Chris Aiken, Shakia Johnson, and Lester Tome. During her time at Smith she performed in two pieces choreographed by Michele Erard, Warp and Weft and Mixed Matter (pictured on the left above), both of which were incredible dancing and learning experiences.

Mobius Storm (above) has been an exploration of Catherine’s dance journey at Smith layered with thematic elements most relevant to her life as an artist during the global pandemic. As the dance took shape it became a journey of her mental health, her outlook on life, and the cyclical nature of human recovery. The dance features Helen Danielson, Naomi Carpenter, Emma Frank, Mara Kelley, and Ella Ammann-Bianciardi.
