Google My Maps is part of the G Suite. My Maps allows the creation of personalized online maps that can be shared or edited by multiple users simultaneously. To add locations from Google Maps into a shared Google My Maps, we provide instructions for two recommended ways:
Save locations in Google My Maps
Use the coordinates of a location
To start sharing a location through Google My Maps you can copy the coordinates of the place selected. To do so, follow the instructions below:
In Google Maps, click near the location selected once. The location icon will appear in the place you clicked and the description of the place (the address and the coordinates) will be displayed at the middle-bottom of the page (see images below).
To save the coordinates from Google Maps, click the coordinates from the Google Maps description. A pin will appear in the location and the search bar will display the coordinates. Copy the coordinates from the search bar.
To add the copied location in Google My Maps, paste the coordinates in the search bar and click the blue magnifying glass. A green pin icon will be displayed in the map showing the location you have selected.
To save the location in Google My Maps, on the left side of the screen, under the Google My Maps menu, click the + sign next to the coordinates. The green icon on the map display will change to blue and the coordinates will be added to the first layer located on the left menu.
Use the Google Maps Street View 360
Google My Maps does not have the Street View feature. To share a 360 image through a shared Google My Maps, the best workaround is to:
In Google Maps, use the street view and find a location’s image. Then, copy the URL of the image.
In Google My Maps, paste the URL in the description box of a pin previously created. Then, click Save. The URL will be available for any user that has access to the Google My Maps file.
Optional:
You can change the color and icon of your pin by clicking on the “Style” icon.
