I enjoyed listening to the podcast I think as we entered our first workshop it exhibited a very healthy way in which to think about the revising and editing process, I think everyone was a bit nervous but everyone had great things to say. I also found myself very proud of everything my peers had created.
I liked the podcast point about how love necessitates revisitation. I think we naturally revisit what we love and stay away from the things we don’t. This is also important in romantic relationships because those that love us will show us in their actions.
I really enjoyed collaborating with my peers and talking about personal feedback from my reading. I think I learned about the fact that my writing is full of emotion and I should continue to explore that. I want to work on being more descriptive.
This week, I really enjoyed being able to work on editing my own piece after having it peer-reviewed last week. Having the perspective of seeing all the edits and suggestions given to my own piece I think helped me to be able to give better advice to the people in my small group as well as those in the full group. I’m excited to see where everyone’s work ends up!
This week’s small group discussion was really helpful in getting very quick and direct feedback. There are definitely strengths to the larger group, but people just being able to say what they mean (or trying to find what they mean) without fear of taking up too much time or space was a net positive of small groups.
Meeting with my small group was extremely helpful. I was nervous going into the small group workshops but once in the group conversations about pieces came naturally. The feedback I gained from my small group workshop has been wonderful in guiding me on how to approach revising my essay. It helped me to see what parts resonated with people and were worth expanding upon, which of the ideas I wanted to convey were adequately conveyed, and what parts of my essay could use some clarification or revision. I particularly appreciated the workshop for helping me figure out what parts of my essay were worth cutting, as cutting down extraneous detail is something I struggle with.
I really appreciated the small group workshops this week. I felt like I was able to take a deep dive into the work of my peers as well as have them get a closer read on mine. I felt like I was able to be vulnerable with my group members in a way I might be comfortable yet within the larger class setting. Additionally, our Zoom workshop got me thinking about the importance of pacing and setting a location while writing a nonfiction essay.
This week I appreciated the small-group workshops, where it was really helpful to hear feedback and comments on my draft. In particular, it was interesting to experience the not being able to respond during my workshop because it made it very clear what the essay itself needed to say.
It was nice to finally have my piece reviewed in small groups. I had been enjoying participating in them for others but I think listening and taking notes on a conversation regarding my specific piece(where I didn’t need to engage in the discourse) was the most helpful thing before I started revisions.
This week, I really appreciated being able to workshop my piece and get feedback. After the discussion and with written notes and feedback, I feel like I have many ideas as to where my essay could evolve. It have enjoyed also reading and discussing the work of others, as I have found benefit in that process as well. I look forward to seeing how the editing process goes!
