Latin name:<\/strong> Thymus vulgaris<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place of origin<\/strong>: The mediterranean, but cultivated in France <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Description<\/strong>: Thyme is a small three to five inches tall plant with shallow roots, and many small green leaves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historical Medicinal Use<\/strong>: Thyme was thought to treat respiratory issues such as asthma, and that it could separate \u201cpure\u201d from \u201cimpure\u201d in the body. It was used in a medicinal recipe by Fouquet for treating a headache caused by the cold and for purging the brain (3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern Medicinal Use<\/strong>:\u00a0 Thyme has been empirically shown to have anti-bacterial, anti-viral, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties (Halat et al.).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
