Sher-Gil painted &#8220;Fruit Vendors&#8221; here and gathered ideas for future paintings that were inspired by the people and culture of these villages, such as &#8220;Brahmacharis&#8221; and &#8220;Bride&#8217;s Toilet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cochin, India<\/strong>&#8211; another site on Sher-Gil&#8217;s South Indian tour, where she was exposed to seventeenth century frescoes whose form, color, and expression of Indian culture inspired her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lahore, India-<\/strong> the location of an important show of Sher-Gil&#8217;s in 1937 which helped her gain critical acclaim and exposed her to Mughal miniature portraits that informed her later work.
