In Figure 4.1 “Orderly Tangles” p. 36 – “At the point where the original string for playing Cat’s Cradle has been stretched into the first station, the only surviving symmetry of the ring is its center on inversion symmetry. In this sculptural adaptation of the station, the positions of the fingers have been displaced slightly in order to give the sculpture a pleasing appearance. Each such position is embraced by an interior angle, and all such angles represent finger positions. The only exceptions are at the very short pieces, enabling the structure to maintain continuity as it moves from one level to another. This station is named Cradle by English speakers, but in Korea it has the less endearing name “cover for a hearse.””
