Death of Summer
Fall 2022
Reeds, tissue paper, matte medium, leaves, glue

I originally wanted to create a flower during our initial tour of the Plant Houses, but the unnatural bending of the reeds, when soaked in water, drew me into the more abstract. As the seasons change on campus, the change of time is very visually noticeable from various walks where I collected the prettiest leaves, trying to find a way to preserve them in time. I incorporated this into the sculpture and created a scene showing the color progression of a leaf falling off a tree.
