Organization Description

Mission: Hampshire County Bar Advocates provide legal representation to indigent clients in district court criminal cases. The Bar Association is comprised of attorneys, judges, and legal professionals. We administer a variety of programs for the general public, and provide services, support and networking opportunities for our members.

Goals: To assist in the administration of various programs for the community and social event for the members and to provide interns with the opportunity to shadow attorneys in criminal courts.


Placement Description

  • Office Intern: Assist with office duties and administration of programs and research for various projects. There are also opportunities to shadow bar advocates and court appointed attorneys representing indigent defendants with criminal matters
  • Skills: 
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and social media 
    • Ability to work well with others
  • Training: Interns will work in an office with the program director under minimal direct supervision

Time Commitment

At least 5 hr/week; Monday-Thursdays 9am-4 (office hours)
