We give children a loving and caring environment in which to improve their skills in reading and math and help them improve their literacy skills so they can become productive members of our community. We also work towards rekindling their interest in learning and self-improvement. Services are provided to school-age children without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, or gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong> Our goal is to assist students enrolled in 1st though 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade with homework completion and improvement of reading and math skills. We also aim to build a positive and supportive relationship that will engage and motivate students to work towards improvement of ability, effort, attitude about school, and academic achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#11754d;font-size:30px\"><strong>Placement Description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tutors:<\/strong> Tutors will work to enhance the self-esteem and confidence of students through tutoring, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skills:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patience and enthusiasm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to effectively communicate sensitivity, respect, and understanding of the needs of underachieving students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to establish and maintain a trusting and positive working relationship with students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accepting of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and ages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to bettering lives through education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training:<\/strong> Orientation and training are provided prior to starting.
