The Research Associates Program (RAP) will also increase students\u2019 knowledge of medical terminology as well as human anatomy and physiology and provide valuable experiences to include in one\u2019s resume.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#11754d;font-size:30px\"><strong>Placement Description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Research Associate (RA)<\/strong>: Participate in clinical research in a hospital setting. Tasks may include screening patient charts for possible subjects, maintaining accurate and complete research logs, aiding with administrative tasks (photocopying, making research folders, etc.), performing literature reviews, creating data tables, transcribing interviews, and helping with chart reviews. You will also gain access to hospital lectures and department research meetings, and shadowing opportunities are available on a case-by-case basis after a research associate has demonstrated a good work ethic and understanding of research procedures. If accepted to the program, the RA must provide the Academic Affairs\u00a0office with a host of documents that include information to complete a criminal background check,\u00a0medical and immunization records, and proof of a recent TB test. Once the RA is cleared by Academic\u00a0Affairs, they must complete CITI training\u2013an online research training program. This training must be\u00a0finished before the RA can be added to any of the current studies. The whole process can take between two and three months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#11754d;font-size:30px\"><strong>Time Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RAs are expected to commit eight hours per week to the position for at least two academic semesters (including fall, spring, and summer). RAs are encouraged to split their time into two 4-hour shifts, but it is possible to complete all 8 hours in one day. During the training period (usually the first 3-4 months of the first semester), associates are asked to schedule their shifts Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
