Northampton Survival Center
Free food Pantry
Northampton Survival Center(N.S.C.) initiated its services in 1979 in the Parish Hall of St. John’sEpiscopal Church on Elm Street. It was first funded by the Diocese’s Venture in Missions Project. Thanks to the hard work and support of community members, donations, and volunteers to organize a food pantry, N.S.C. can continue this act of care for our neighbors.
The Northampton Survival Center location is committed to supporting low-income individuals and families around Hampshire County by mitigating their needs. It offers meals, pantry food, and other essential resources in an environment of respect and careful consideration.
Vegetables, fruit, bread, and personal care items can be picked up weekly.
The Pantry food is distributed once a month. Neighbors can choose from shelf-stable food such as meat, bread, dairy, fruits, and vegetables.
For instructions on the parking distribution, please click the link below. Available in Spanish and English.

Federal Program
“Center for Self-reliance and Food Pantry”
Community Action Pioneer Valley (C.A.P.V.) is the development of more than 1,000 community-based organizations known as Community in Action Agencies (C.A.A.s), formed in 1964 when Congress enacted the Economic Opportunity Act (E.O.A.) as a guide to the Civil Rights Acts, which ensured equal opportunity for all people.
Thus Community Action Pioneer Valley is the development of Federal Initiatives known as the “War on Poverty” (C.A.P.V.)., created to mitigate the need of lower-income individuals, recognizing their troubles and developing plans to aid their financial stability. Currently, C.A.P.V. has developed forty Community programs dedicated to improving the lives of our neighbors.
So, C.A.P.V. offers Women, Infants, and Children (W.I.C.) a federal help debit card to buy food. The Community Action Pioneer Valley has locations in Amherst, Northampton, Greenfield, and Orange, MA.
