Choice in the Church: Catholics and Abortion

Vincenzia Fasulo

Welcome to “Choice in the Church: Catholics and Abortion.” This podcast seeks to explore the pro-choice perspective as a radical movement within the Catholic church. Citing Pew Research studies, exploring the organization Catholics for Choice, and even looking back at who led the underground abortion movement at Smith, some surprising conclusions are found.

Some content may be disturbing for some listeners. I’m going to talk about Catholicism, and give an example of a pro-life perspective in the first minutes of this podcast. Please fast-forward or step away as you need.

I’d like to thank Professor Kelly Anderson for her instruction this semester, and for this podcast opportunity. Maureen Callahan, an archivist here at Smith College who helped us learn about the archives. Meredith Richter, for her technology teachings and podcast help throughout the semester. Extra special thanks to Becca Keyel for her help teaching us how to use WordPress, and making our creations work how we want them to. Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank the people tirelessly advocating for reproductive justice today. Thank you all.
