From March 23 – 28, the Elizabeth Alexander Creative Writing Winner for Poetry, Paramita Vadhahong was our writer-in-residence at Smith College. On Thursday of their residency, Para read a selection of poems including the award-winning poem “the dead sell the living” which is published in Volume 25, No. 1.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, Meridians <\/em>hosted a two-day symposium at Smith College where we invited members of the Meridians <\/em>community, whether they be contributors, peer reviewers, board members, and\/or editors, to celebrate the past and imagine the future of transnational feminist scholarship. Our program started off on Friday night with a keynote conversation between former Smith College President Ruth Simmons, current Smith College President Sarah Willie-LeBreton, former Meridians <\/em>editor Paula J. Giddings, and current Meridians <\/em>editor Ginetta E. B. Candelario ’90 with former Meridians <\/em>Editorial Advisory Board member and current Smith College Provost Daphne Lamothe moderating. The conversation was recorded and is now on our YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
