Who gets to make them? What in the vision of the exhibition gets preserved and what gets sacrificed? What does dress mean and who decides?<br>When you stand in a museum looking at a gown behind glass, you are seeing the end of a long negotiation. What you rarely see is the negotiation itself.<br>This will put you inside that process. You are a curator with a collection you believe in and an institution that has finally agreed to show it. What happens next depends on the choices you make, about scholarship and spectacle, about conservation and access, about what you&#8217;re willing to fight for and what you&#8217;re willing to let go.<br>What those tradeoffs reveal about power, legitimacy, and cultural meaning is up to you to discover. Every choice leaves something out.
