I am an associate professor of government at Smith College. I received my Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard\u2019s Kennedy School of Government. I conduct research on local governance in China and Taiwan and on subnational diplomacy between the US, China, and Taiwan, and am currently writing a book (with <a href=\"https:\/\/kylejaros.com\/\">Kyle Jaros<\/a>, University of Notre Dame) on the evolution of subnational US-China relations. My work has been published in <em>PS: Political Science and Politics, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, <\/em><em>Governance, Pacific Review, China Quarterly, <\/em>and the <em>Journal of Political Science Education. <\/em>I am a fellow in the Public Intellectuals Program of the National Committee on US-China Relations, a member of the US-Taiwan Next Generation Working Group, and an Associate in Research at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard.
