Workshop: March 7-9, 2007<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2007 Smith College Print workshop featured a collaboration between Boston-based painter\/printmaker Cheryl Warrick and master printer Maurice Sanchez.<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in St. Albans, New York, Cheryl Warrick received her B.F.A from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and a Masters in Art Education from Lesley College. Warrick is a best known for her richly colored, quilt-like works that incorporate folk wisdom, proverbs, symbols, and landscapes. Her generously layered prints invite viewers to find visual relationships between seemingly disparate images and to quietly discover their meaning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Warrick brought several drawings for inspiration, but as an experienced printmaker, she quickly developed new imagery and techniques while creating these vibrant new monotypes. Many of the monotypes incorporate multiple layers of ink and graphite drawing, juxtaposing lush textures, lively draftsmanship, and rich color into schematic representations of mood and memory.<\/span><\/p>\n
