Alt Text describes the content of the image. Good Alt Text helps the user understand the context and reason behind the inclusion of this image. If text color is too similar to a background, or when using certain color combinations, it can be difficult for users to access the information. WordPress has built in tools to help you gauge whether or not text is readable. Descriptions should be used on all images and are especially important when an image is communicating important information so that people using screen readers can access the same content.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep Alt Text short and descriptive (up to about 125 characters).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t include phrases like, \u201cimage of\u201d or \u201cphoto of\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/accessibility.huit.harvard.edu\/describe-content-images\">Write good Alt Text to describe images<\/a>.<br>(Harvard Digital Accessibility Services).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/everything-you-need-to-know-to-write-effective-alt-text-df98f884-ca3d-456c-807b-1a1fa82f5dc2\">Everything you need to know to write effective alt text<\/a> (Microsoft).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webaim.org\/techniques\/alttext\/\">WebAIM: Alternative Text<\/a>. Transcripts are helpful because they\u2019re a searchable version of the audio content, and are useful for studying, printing, and taking notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/otter.ai\/\">Otter.ai real-time transcription<\/a> &#8211; The free version of Otter.ai lets you transcribe up to 45 minutes of audio at a time. When you create content within H5P, make sure to fill out any Alt text fields and follow the previous recommendations about text contrasts and links.
