Mary Vazquez was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico in 1943. She was brought to the United States by her adoptive mother and father and grew up in Northampton, MA. Vazquez has been a part of the lesbian community in Northampton for the past 50+ years. She organized the Mary Vazquez
Women’s Softball League, maintained a long DJ career and participated in the early Pride marches in Northampton. She has been with her partner Lesléa Newman for over 30 years and they married legally in 2004. She currently lives in Holyoke, MA.
