Vulnerable is selfishness severed from greed,
\npure frailty, pure
\nneed for anyone\u2019s touch or finger-
\nbrush, anyone\u2019s milky-
\nsynthetic feeding\u2014Vulnerable
\nplants itself in the ground and squalls new breeds of desire:
\npouting iris\u2019 hung with orange seed\u2014
\nVulnerable is in heat,
\nprepared to meet the worst of ends
\nfor a pitiful means.
\nVulnerable gleans
\nmouth gaping to the sky
\npetals rusty-yellow to green, Vulnerable
\ntrembles at the catch of the shining beak, as if keening towards
\none final chance to be seen.\u00a0 Vulnerable
\nis not so Na\u00efve, does not actually believe in its own survival
\nbut has no bite, no limbs to fight
\nmuch less breath to agree
\nYes, this is how I want to end
\n<\/i>this prolonged shrivel
\n<\/i>this top-heavy crystal bath
\n<\/i>your used-up masterpiece.<\/i><\/p>\n
