B.A. Goucher College; Boston Children’s Aid Society from 1903 to 1913; Boston Psychopathic Hospital, 1913-1925. Designed and directed<\/a> the first session of what became the Smith College School for Social Work, 1918. When the SSW became more permanent for the 1919 year, she was asked to become associate director. Delivered “The Psychiatric Thread Running Through All Social Case Work<\/a>” at the National Conference of Social Work in 1919. Founded the organization which later became the American Association of Psychiatric Social Workers, 1920. Researcher and program and policy analyst for the U.S. Public Health Service and the Veterans Administration, 1923-1927. Helped found a chronic disease hospital (now known as Goldwater Memorial Hospital). Trained nurses on home care for the chronically ill for the Works Progress Administration. B.A. (honors), Canada\u2019s University of Western Ontario, M.S.W., University of Michigan, Ph.D., Florida State University\u2019s School of Social Work; Professor, 1996-2014, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, New York City\u2019s Columbia School of Social Work; Dean, Smith College School for Social Work, 2014-present; National Association of Deans and Directors of Social Work, the NASW.\u00a0<\/span>Research: the areas of addiction, family therapy, HIV\/AIDS, family violence in Asian communities, and the design and development of culturally tailored intervention. She has received related research funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, as well as private foundations, and has published her findings extensively in an effort to advance knowledge of and services for underrepresented communities. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
