Stuart Chapin wrote the new director Everett Kimball, asking for a letter of recommendation for a Smith student who had applied for a secretarial position with the Social Science Research Council.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text max_width=&#8221;620px&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;20&#8243; text_text_color=&#8221;#363636&#8243; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;30px||0px|&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1.5em&#8221; text_font_size_last_edited=&#8221;on|tablet&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.2.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Kimball knew her as a Smith College professor of Government and not as an SSW student, but the conversation between the two men about the trouble they had had with &#8220;college women&#8221; reveals predispositions in their attitude toward the women they worked with and educated on a daily basis.
