The first decade or so did not verbally limit the course to women, perhaps because it was assumed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe training courses in Psychiatric Social Work, in Medical Social Work, and in Community Service are open to graduates of colleges of approved standing and to a few exceptional persons of equivalent preparation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>This description of the school&#8217;s teaching methods stay in the bulletin for decades:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The school employs the newer methods of training for social work. Plan C is for students only present for a single summer, like the Continuing Education Seminars later in the century. Summer sessions are 8 weeks long and winter field internships are 10 months long.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1935<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Bertha Capen Reynolds developed and launched <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.smith.edu\/ssw100-history\/plan-d-bertha-capen-reynolds-plans-supervisor-training\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plan D<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to train supervisors of social work students<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1938<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Kimball canceled Plan D at the end of summer 1938 and strongly encouraged\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.smith.edu\/ssw100-history\/ousted-for-her-beliefs-bertha-kapen-reynolds-and-everett-kimball\/\">Bertha Capen Reynolds to resign<\/a>.\u00a0 Despite the end of Plan D, SSW continues to offer courses for graduates of M.S.S. programs.
