Resources for Elementary or Beginner Students

For our elementary/beginner students we have:
First up, we have digitaldialects.com. This website offers learning tools and quizzes for a variety of topics. A great feature of this site is that it offers Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese as separate pages, so students can learn based on their target regions and compare the dialects to one another. The learning games are an awesome way for students to interact with the language in many different ways. Each of the learning games also has a quiz to take to test the students knowledge and understanding of the topic. Keep scrolling to see what these games have to offer!

Phrases: Your students will be able to read the phrases in English and Portuguese. They can also click the headphones icon to hear the phrase spoken out loud.
Phrases Quiz: Your student will be asked to listen to a phrase in Portuguese and match it to the phrase in English.

Objects Quiz: After learning basic object names, students will be able to take a quiz using images and sound to identify objects in Portuguese.
Map Game & Quiz: Another great feature of this site is that they incorporate cultural aspects to their games! In this map game, students are able to scroll over the different states in Brazil and learn a bit about the state. After, students can take a quiz to identify where each state is located.

Dictionary: This next resource for new learners is an online dictionary. This site provides reliable definitions and conjugations for any words that your students may come across. There is a word of the day that can be used as a fun activity to keep your students learning new vocab. When you search a word, not only does this site give you definitions, it also shows you anagrams and neighbor-words for the word. When students are interacting with class materials, you can direct them to this site when they are unsure of a new word they come across. The most searched words feature on the home page can also be used as an activity for new vocab words. There are countless ways that this online resource can function in your classroom! See below for some search result examples.
