The 5 overseas territories are known as  D\u00e9partement d\u2019Outre Mer (or DOM):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guadeloupe (North America)<br>Martinique (North America)<br>French Guyana (South America)<br>Reunion (Africa)<br>Mayotte (Africa)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>France also has 6 overseas territories known as Territoires D\u2019outre Mer (or TOM):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Pierre &amp; Miquelon (North America)<br>St. Barthelemy (North America)<br>St. Martin (North America)<br>French Polynesia (Oceania)<br>New Caledonia (Oceania)<br>Wallis &amp; Futuna (Oceania)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French is the official language of 28 countries as listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belgium<br>Benin<br>Burkina Faso<br>Burundi<br>Cameroon<br>Canada<br>Central African Republic<br>Chad<br>Comoros<br>Congo (Democratic Republic of the Congo)<br>Congo (Republic of the Congo)<br>Djibouti<br>Equatorial Guinea<br>Gabon<br>Guinea<br>Haiti<br>Ivory Coast<br>Luxembourg<br>Madagascar<br>Mali<br>Monaco<br>Niger<br>Rwanda<br>Senegal<br>Seychelles<br>Switzerland<br>Togo<br>Vanuatu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many countries have French as a commonly spoken language but not as an official language.
