Northeast college students attend civil rights colloquium<\/p>\n

Students from Bennington and Williams, accompanied by smaller delegations from Yale, Columbia, MIT, Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Amherst, gathered for a three-day colloquium on civil rights at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont, \u201cRace Relations Today.\u201d The keynote speaker Julian Bond talked about the history of the civil rights movement and expressed similar ideas to the chairman of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) Stokely Carmichael on black power and white activism addressing the discrimination of the white community. At the conclusion of the colloquium, the delegates from the different schools asserted a need for greater communication among projects, campuses, and interested students.<\/i><\/p>\n
