President Dunn sends memo about vandalism incident<\/p>\n
Following the vandalism of Professor Seymour Itzkoff\u2019s office and house, President Dunn issued a memo to the college community reporting on what had happened. She said that \u201coffensive epithets\u201d had been spray-painted inside and outside of Itzkoff\u2019s office. Referencing the first semester\u2019s controversies around Itzkoff\u2019s book The Decline of Intelligence in America: A Strategy for National Renewal, President Dunn declared, “I am very discouraged when someone strikes such a blow to the civil discourse that is at the heart of academic institutions. This undermines freedom for all of us.\u201d She also urged anyone at the college who had information on the incidents to come forward, though she noted that Itzkoff thought the perpetrator was someone from outside the college.<\/i><\/p>\n
