Racial Justice Conference<\/p>\n
Students from 35 colleges including Smith, Harvard, and Yale gathered in Cambridge on the weekend of the 31st for three days of lectures and discussions by and with \u201cprominent workers in interracial activities\u201d (The Sophian). Among the lecturers was Dr. Ernest Kalibala of the UN, who spoke about the necessity of national independence for countries on the African continent. He especially emphasized African peoples\u2019 desires for the rights to their land, to their resources, to education, and to self governance. Dr. Leonard Levy of Brandeis discussed discrimination in the workforce and the importance of desegregated schools, while Dr. Gordon Allport of Harvard talked about the psychology of discrimination and racial stereotyping.<\/i><\/p>\n
