Shelton Burden resigned her post to attend divinity school at Vanderbilt University, Smith College formed a new search committee to fill her position. The chair of the committee, Associate Professor of Psychology Fletcher Blanchard, who had also been chair of the previous search committee, was to fill the position until a permanent candidate was found.
