School Segregation Panel held in Neilson Browsing Room<\/p>\n

Led by Mr. Leo Weinstein, and moderated by Katharine Davies \u201853, a discussion is held in Neilson Browsing Room surrounding the recent Supreme Court decisions regarding segregated schooling. Judy Plesser \u201853 and Greta Waldinger \u201853 present on the issues of black people in white school before the discussion began. In a Sophian article on the event, it is stated that desegregation laws call for slow introduction, and that it is not anti-blackness, but tradition that bars many Southern states from compliance. Mr. Weinstein is noted as saying not only that segregation is more prevalent in poor mixed communities than in universities, but also that it is the \u201cwhite trash\u201d of America most responsible for prejudice, who through industry and social work can be educated.<\/i><\/p>\n
