“Here, Now” — Younes Rahmoun
“Here, Now” was the first North American exhibition devoted to the art of Younes Rahmoun, one of Morocco’s leading contemporary artists.

Over the last 25 years, Rahmoun has found inspiration in a profound connection to his here and now.
In his work, Rahmoun transforms simple shapes, materials, and gestures from his daily life into sculptures and installations. For Rahmoun, creating art provides a way to be present with himself and with the world around him.

The Ghorfa #13
Younes Rahmoun’s site-specific sculpture at MacLeish, Ghorfa #13 (Al-Ana/Huna), which was designed and installed in collaboration with the Smith College Art Museum’s Here, Now exhibition, provided a foundation for some of Arts Afield programming during the 2024-2025 academic year.
