Submissions for the 2024–2025 publication
are now open!
- We are seeking works by:
- Current undergraduate students.
- Authors who earned their undergraduate degree in the past two years, who have not attended a graduate program, and who will not be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of publication in May 2025.
- We accept:
- Essays between 1,500–8,000 words in length.
- Translations of medieval documents accompanied by a 200–800 word translator’s note.
- Artworks accompanied by a 300–800 word artist’s note which roots the work in historical context.
- Book reviews between 500 and 1,500 words. Contact us if you are interested in writing a review but need help locating a proper book (must be issued by an academic publisher in the last 5 years).
- Submissions must:
- pertain to the time period between approx. 400 CE–1500 CE.
- not be published in another journal.
- be cited in Chicago format.
- Submissions in languages other than English accepted and encouraged.
- Submissions can be written for a course assignment.
- We hope to expose our readers to the geographically, culturally, and socially diverse reality of the Middle Ages, and we are always looking for work that seeks to diversify the field in any way.
