broken body born anew in your eyes that are mirrors of my own i had to kill you so that i could live before half of me was gone i hate to be known you hate to be left alone there’s blood on our hands
Pounding, pulsing beat Sound rushing faster than I Could ever hope to Pushing the limit Closer than I’ve ever gone Move, move me faster Get lost in the sound Ever easier said than done Swallow hard, keep on Eyes closed, always closed I can’t bear to look back out Fear grips chest, mind, heart I dream of a day I can stand in the light, proud For now, wait and pray.
Mountains Sun shines through the leaves scattering light down below there, a bear wallows We are hiking fast leaves crunching below our boots when we see the bear Hurry, the bear spray we scramble to get the can the bear runs away
Smith A squirrel runs by And with no fear in its eyes Looks at me; I cry The rush is insane Hungry humans oh my! The cooks brace for us. The grind never ends 24 hour alumni So many essays
The sun shines bright, The green grass smells sweet yet sharp Lost in the summer haze. Picnics in the parks, and the sandcastles built on those sunny beach days, ice cream melting down their hands. Summer was here bringing with it no more early morning alarm clocks and time to bask in the sunshine.
Food Me llamo Dora Can you all say pupusa Boots, why don’t you try Charcuterie yum Wine and cheese, oh me oh my Red or White wine, sir? A filet mignon Buttery, juicy and warm With some potatoes
To the endlessness, the ocean, the restless life she keeps, holding on. Describing water. How do you do it, the calm, drifting and biting? Cautious, still, awash. leave me face up, floating in this expansive rest.
Seasons Naked trees whisper In eerie voices how sad they are and lonely Blooming in the warmth, Blossoms cascade down from trees, Pollen fills the air. Scalps drenched in hot sweat Burn under the scorching sun Heat, exhaustion, help. Trees drop their leaves Yellow, orange, crunching now Underneath my feet.
broken body born
anew in your eyes that are
mirrors of my own
i had to kill you
so that i could live before
half of me was gone
i hate to be known
you hate to be left alone
there’s blood on our hands
Pounding, pulsing beat
Sound rushing faster than I
Could ever hope to
Pushing the limit
Closer than I’ve ever gone
Move, move me faster
Get lost in the sound
Ever easier said than done
Swallow hard, keep on
Eyes closed, always closed
I can’t bear to look back out
Fear grips chest, mind, heart
I dream of a day
I can stand in the light, proud
For now, wait and pray.
