The trip to the museum was an absolute delight! Seeing some new paintings, and revisiting a few that I had seen before was very insightful, and allow me to see these paintings in a new light.
I had so much fun at the museum. It was really interesting to read Adrienne Rich’s interpretation of the Mourning Picture because of how she portrayed perspective, diving into Effie’s point of view instead of the parents’ grief. I think it really played into the uncanny valley vibes the piece gives since the proportions were so odd, everything was so detailed, and it just seemed like memories pieced together from a child’s hazy point of view.
The trip to the museum was a fun way to get inspiration for new written pieces. I enjoyed learning the history/story of many of these paintings because it allowed me to recognize how much of these stories I make up in my mind and sometimes how different they can be from the actual story. It was fun to see those differences and look at beautiful art while trying to use creative elements.
I really enjoyed going on a little field trip to the museum. I especially enjoyed seeing all of the artwork and choosing one that spoke to us to write about. I loved being in that atmosphere because it made me feel like a writer and an artist which was fun.
