This semester for my capstone project I made a video that explores how and why evolving trends in design and technology shape our experience with permanent collections of art. I explored a more extreme version of an immersive digital experience with a single sculpture in the Ancient Gallery, the “Winged Torso of Eros”, using the museum’s 1923 bulletin, object files, archival branding materials, and my own footage. The video is an experiment in breaking traditional design and digital communication rules from the past and present in attempts to question the current trajectory of digital technology and contemporary design in art museums.
