Interactive Digital Activities for Children – Kandy Wan ’22

Visit Interactive Digital Activities for Children by Kandy Wan ’22.

Traditionally, museums were a “no-touch environment” where the engagement was primarily visual and intellectual. Museums nowadays are changing towards inclusive spaces, addressing the needs and expectations of all visitors. However, efforts mainly focus on improving physical accessibility and learning for children. Thus, under the influence of Universal Design for Learning, this project aims to eliminate barriers in the design of museum activities to make museum experiences accessible for all, especially for children. By designing multi-sensory and interactive digital activities for the children to play within the main exhibition space, the project gives children the tools and agency to freely explore the museum on their own. The project empowers children not only to become learners but also experiencers in the museums.
