Born in North Platte, Nebraska, Barbara Takenaga received her B.F.A and M.F.A from the University of Colorado, Boulder. A professor of art at Williams College since 1985, Takenaga divides her time between Williamstown, MA, and New York City.

Already an experienced printmaker, Takenaga collaborated with master intaglio printer Peter Pettengill on two variations of a single composition: a swirling pattern of dots and lines that simultaneously evoke the cosmos and microscopic forms of life. Printed in silver metallic and deep purple, these complex abstractions sparkle with life.
