Submit to the Journal
The Smith College Historical Review accepts submissions on a rolling basis. Current submissions will be considered for the Spring 2026 issue. Submissions do not need to have been written for a history course; we welcome work from multiple disciplines so long as the subject matter deals meaningfully with the past. We ask that all papers meet the following guidelines in order to be considered for publication:
- Papers must have been written for an undergraduate course. Recent graduates are encouraged to submit papers written prior to their graduation.
- Submissions must not have previously been published elsewhere.
- Submissions should be between eight and fifty double-spaced pages in length.
- Submissions should be research papers with an original thesis.
- Submissions should be double-spaced and submitted in .doc or .docx format, with Chicago-style citations.
- We ask that students only submit one paper per semester.
- We ask that all papers be submitted in English.
- We ask that all papers work with at least one primary source.

Submissions for the Spring 2026 edition are due Thursday, March 5th. Submissions received after this point will be considered for the Fall edition.
