Sophie Willard Van Sistine is a Studio Art major from Claremont, California. Her cartoons have appeared in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, the Oakland Arts Review, Emulate, The Sophian, and on her personal blog. Through her internship at Smith’s Wurtele Center for Leadership, she practices graphic recording: a form of large-scale imagery, illustrated in real time to help lead groups toward a common goal. Her cartooning skills translate ideas into practical application. Likewise, graphic recording has informed her studio art practice. For her senior capstone project, she is exploring the collaboration between performance art, installation art, and illustration.
